Forum Information

Since 2005, the Hydropower for Today Forum has existed fourteen years, in order to provide a platform for international experts from all over the world to focus on the issues of small hydropower through cooperation among international organizations, developing countries and developed countries. Now the Forum has been an important way for countries to share experiences, seek cooperation and common development.

The 8th Hydropower for Today Forum, whose theme is Hydropower Promotes Industrial Development in Africa, will be held in Lusaka, Zambia on 6 – 7 November 2018. It is co-organized by the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) and the International Center on Small Hydro Power (ICSHP), Hangzhou, People’s Republic of China.

The objective of this year’s Forum is to promote the “Belt and Road” initiative, inclusive and sustainable industrial development, and realization of the UN’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Forum will be co-hosted by Ministry of Water Resources, People’s Republic of China; Zambian Ministry of Energy; Zambian Ministry of Water Development, Sanitation and Environmental Protection; and United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
